2026-03-19: Indigo Dye at Hopsewee Plantation, Georgetown
$95.00
Come experience the magic of creating with all-natural indigo at Hopsewee
Plantation. Indigo, known for its deep, rich hue, was used for the distinctive
blue of the British uniforms. Indigo was South Carolina’s first cash crop and
played an important part in our Lowcountry history and culture. Please plan to
wear old clothes and closed-toed shoes and bring long latex or rubber gloves if
you have them. Following our Indigo class, we’ll make a stop in Pawleys Island
to have lunch (on your own). Departure time is 9:45 a.m. Activity Level 2.
Level 2: Moderate—You like a balanced approach to travel. Walking up to 1-2 miles over the course of a day or standing for 30 minutes is no problem for you. You can handle a variety of terrains to moderate hills with ease and without assistance. You can climb two flights of stairs with ease.
